Pigmentation

A skin condition that is discolouring of the skin. Skin gets it’s colour from a pigment called Melanin - the more melanin, the darker the skin tone. Skin conditions occur when the body has produced too much or too little melanin to the natural skin tone. Pigmentation can be caused by the usage of the contraceptive pill and pregnancy alongside sun damage (UVA rays specifically) giving the skin patchy dark spots. Ageing can also result in an uneven skin tone.
